How to get to Ithaca and Cornell University

Airplane

  • The nearest airport is the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. It is a 10-minute drive to campus and downtown areas by taxi or van. You will be able to take local bus (TCAT Route 31, $1.50), unless it's weekend. Take a look at here for details. You will also be able to find information about other regional airports.

Ground Transportation

  • TRAIN: We do not recommend this, because there is no Amtrak station in Ithaca. The nearest train stop is Syracuse, NY, located about 1.5 hour from Ithaca.
  • BUS: SHORTLINE BUS ((800) 631-8405) is regional service within NY and New Jersey at economical fares (e.g., Ithaca to NYC is $48.50 for one-way and $97 for round-trip), with stops on the Cornell campus and downtown. Click here for details.
  • CAMPUS-TO-CAMPUS is a superior-quality, express bus service between Ithaca and New York City. Standard price is $99 for one-way and $149 for round-trip.

Driving Directions to Cornell University
